Feast of Ingathering

Bible Passage:

Exodus 23:16; Leviticus 23:39-43 [God commands the Feast of Ingathering].

Purpose:

To remember that God had His people live in booths when they left out of Egypt [Leviticus 23:43]. To recognize God dwelling among His people, as He went with them through the visible sign of the Tent of Meeting (Tabernacle) [Exodus 33:7-16]. To realize Yeshua is God Who dwells among us [John 7:1-39].

How to Observe:

Gather “foliage of beautiful trees, palm branches and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook” and celebrate joyfully in God’s presence for His dwelling with us and sheltering us [Leviticus 23:40].

Palm branches are especially significant because these are also the type that was used to cover road that Yeshua took into Jerusalem as people praised Him as their deliverer [Matthew 21:8; John 12:12-15].

A booth (temporary shelter) should be built that you dwell in for seven days of the duration of the feast [Leviticus 23:42]

You should rejoice in God sending Yeshua to the world to redeem it to Himself and also giving you His Spirit to dwell with you when you take part in the covenant He made with us through Yeshua’s sacrifice.

Act:

Celebrate by dwelling in booths for the seven-day feast, bringing in the fruitful branches of trees, and rejoicing in Yeshua’s coming to you and His Spirit within you.
