Feast of Weeks

Bible Passage:

Exodus 23:16; 34:22 [God commands the Feast if Weeks to be observed]; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23 [Yeshua is known as the first fruits of people to be resurrected from the dead].

Purpose:

God wants His people to bring to Him their first fruits of grain to recognize that God’s portion for the priests (and thereby Himself) is to be from the first of what He provides. [Leviticus 23:20]. God has ownership of all things, no one else. The Feast of Weeks also strongly foreshadows the resurrection of the dead that began with Yeshua. [1 Corinthians 15:20-23]

How to Observe:

The offerings of the Feast of Weeks are accompanied by a burnt offering, a sin offering, and a peace offering which all include an animal sacrifice [Leviticus 23:18-20]. Since Yeshua has become our eternal sacrifice, taking the place of all animal sacrifices, no offerings are observed except for the bread offering which is given to the priest (which would be a pastor in modern society).

No bread, roasted grain products or new plants should be eaten until a memorial bread offering is given to the local congregation. [Leviticus 23:14]

Two loaves of bread should be brought to your local church to be given to the pastor as a way of remembering this feast and also as a charitable way of providing for the pastor. [Leviticus 23:20]

The Feast of Weeks is a Sabbath and therefore should be observed just as the weekly Sabbath is observed. [Leviticus 23:21]

This feast is also to be observed by a gathering with fellow believers and setting aside the time for observing it and giving time to God by means of prayer, worship, teaching, and by not spending the day simply as you please. [Exodus 23:17; Leviticus 23:21; Numbers 28:26]

Act:

Observe the holy day by focusing on God’s rule over all of creation and trusting in His provision both now and in the resurrection to come.
